I want to share with you the sad news of the passing of Robert Hollander, Professor Emeritus in European Literature at Princeton University, where he taught from 1975 until his retirement of him in 2003.

We remember Bob with great admiration for his many important contributions to the field of Dante Studies, not least the creation of the Princeton Dante Project and publication of his commentary on the Commedia accompanied by a verse translation by his wife di lui, the poet Jean Hollander .

And we remember him with great fondness as that 12th president of our Society, serving two terms from 1979-1985.
